Something hungry this way comes…

The magpie has struck again!

After getting hammered time and time again by ‘balanced’ armies at the recent Tides of Chaos realm campaign in Reading my dwarves have gone back to their mountain halls grumbling to themselves and nursing their grudges…

Time for a new army methinks, the VC’s have always appealed to me, few can forget my previous attempt with the Strigoi ghoul army (Come and have a go if you want an easy win!!) but prices these days have put me off unless i go fully mantic, beleive me it was tempting but on the occasions i play in the shop i can’t use them :(

So where next? other tier 1 armies include elves, extremely devastating but just one problem, THEY’RE ELVES!!!

Skaven, well what can i say, every army book should come with a free loop on beard…

To be honest none of them appeal to me as i go for the fluff more than winning games, bit of an odd outlook i know but i just can’t bring myself to create an army without background, hence why i’ll never play storm of chaos (Daemon pacts for high elves or lizards? Really!?) So while flicking through the new Ogre Kingdoms book i came across a description of one tribe, The Sons of the Mountain, who focus more on the big gribblies than on mercing it up like every other tribe (How many Golfag’s are there going to be?)

So how do you theme the army to reflect this relatively backward outlook? by including two hunters, two stonehorns, a thundertusk, a pack of sabretusks, mourfang cavalry and yhetees. Mininmising on ledbelchers, no maneaters or firebellies.

Anyway, here is my first test model, let me know what you think…

I’ve just started a mantic Orc army and Conrad a mantic Vampires army.
I can see some games coming on
