Soldiering on…
9 04 2007So what have I done this month…. Well with an extra £8.50 on top of the £25.00 to spend this month I could have gone all out but in light of the fact that I haven’t even played fantasy in well over 6 months (as a result whatever I paint up won’t get played with) I painted up 5 figures! Yes 5! At £6.00 pound each 5 pistoliers took up £30.00 pounds leaving me with £3.50 to save up for next month.

Bit by bit, on and on and Ariston…
8 04 2007Another month gone and guess what..? Yup, I am again behind the schedule… However, thanks to Kahuna I can at least bring you pictures! These are my Chaos Dwarfs painted thus far (few more pictures here and here, and this motley lot are my Hobgoblin archers (again, more pictures here and here). In addition here and here are some pictures of the Death Rocket crew. The sharp eyed amongst you will point out that bases need finishing, shields need applying and a banner needs creating – I’m working on it!
So what do I have planned for this month? Well, I have a Death Rocket and a Sorceror to finish so I plan to take it easy (again!) for April. Therefore out roll the Hobgoblin Bolt Throwers. In today’s money I reckon they’ll set me back £12.00 each, making my spending for this month a grand £24.00. Struck by a recent bout of sanity, the Death Rocket and Bolt Throwers will be undercoated black (hopefully saving me valuable time).
Do I have any thoughts on how I’m progressing? Of course, loads! I may be the first to admit that a white undercoat for this project may not have been the wisest of decisions… Time restraints do mean that a black undercoat would be worth it – however I do think the bright reds of the armour benefit from the white undercoat, as does the flesh. It just means I have to be careful when applying the paint – which is not something I naturally do!

Spring Tidings
8 04 2007April rolls around and all has not gone to plan on the painting front. In my defense, during March I have been away for week, spent two days in
Germany and over a week on 16 hour days at work. But enough of the excuses – the job did not get done. On the positive side I have completed the ‘home-grown’ Treekin to my satisfaction, they compare well to the Dryads and I think they have a better look than the GW versions. I’ll let you make your own minds up, images are here, here and here . This means that I didn’t complete the Warhawk riders, so they stay on my workbench. I’ve also got another £25 or 500 pts to spend (depending how you look at it), so what next. With a 1000pts almost sorted, I’m going to go for a Rare choice and that’s got to be a Treeman (Mr Stick II) . Unlike my last Treeman, who was in fact a converted stick, I have obtained a Durthu Treeman figure for $7 off E-bay, so the remaining £18 will cover a unit of Glade Riders – easy choice and a good looking unit to paint. My only concern is that means 6 Warhawks, a Treeman and 8 Cavalry by end of April – a fair old challenge.
12 Glade Guard, full command, banner of the springtide = 199pts
8 Dryads = 96pts
8 Glade Riders, standard and musician = 111pts
5 WArdancers = 90pts
4 Treekin = 260pts
6 Warhawk Riders = 240pts
Treeman =285pts
Total = 1500pts
So another month, another 500pts. All I need to do now is add a couple of characters and a few extra Wardancers and Robert’s your father’s brother. All I’ve got to do is paint……………
